Abnormal symptoms of genital organs in boys are more common, mainly including cryptorchidism, excessive and long foreskin, testicular hydrocele, etc.

Characteristics of boys’ sexual development ages

About 1.8% of boys will have cryptorchidism when they are born, and about 40% of them are premature babies. There are two types of cryptorchidism: unilateral and bilateral. 80% of cryptorchidism can naturally reduce within 1 year of age. If it still does not reduce after 2 years of age, it can only be solved with surgical treatment. Many patients with cryptorchidism also suffer from conditions such as indirect inguinal hernia or hypospadias.

Parents who discover symptoms of cryptorchidism during children's regular physical examination at school should take their children for treatment immediately. Otherwise, the older the male's testicles are, the greater the negative impact of excessive abdominal temperature will be, and the shrinkage of the seminiferous tubules and the reduction of spermatogenic cells will be more obvious. People with bilateral cryptorchidism often lose the ability to reproduce.

However, the testicular interstitial cells of cryptorchid children can still metabolize male hormones, so internal hair, pubic hair, beard, etc. still grow and develop. Therefore, testing for secondary sexual characteristics alone does not solve the problem and should be taken seriously.

Prepuce hyperplasia and foreskin growth are also common in boys. If the foreskin is too long and cannot be turned up to expose the urethral opening and glans penis, it is called foreskin. If the foreskin is too long and covers the head of the penis, but can be turned up to expose the male genitals, it is called a long foreskin. Both of them can cause inflammation of the glans penis due to excessive foreskin, which may lead to urethral stenosis or anterior urethral stenosis, causing difficulty in urination. As the foreskin grows for a long time, the mucus excreted from the small glands in the neck of the glans turns into a slurry-like accumulation that is very smelly, which is called urine dirt.

Urinary scale continues to irritate the prepuce, causing local inflammation, swelling and pain. The long-term irritation of urine scale can also cause penile cancer. According to statistics, more than 90% of penile cancers have medical records of prepuce and foreskin. Therefore, when a child with a foreskin is found to have a long foreskin, parents should be encouraged to immediately send him or her for circumcision surgery. If a child with a foreskin is found to be older, the parents should be reminded to wash the area frequently with warm water or 1/5000 potassium permanganate water and maintain daily cleaning. Naturally, it is better to undergo surgery.
