Testicular microlithiasis can be intervened through regular review, drug treatment, surgical treatment and other methods. Testicular microlithiasis may be related to congenital developmental abnormalities, orchitis, varicocele and other factors. It usually presents with symptoms such as testicular swelling and pain, and scrotal swelling.
1. Regular review
Patients who are asymptomatic and have small stones usually do not require special treatment. It is recommended to perform scrotal ultrasonography every 6-12 months to monitor changes in the condition. In daily life, strenuous exercise or external force impacting the testicles should be avoided, and loose and breathable underwear should be worn to reduce local compression. If an increase in the number or size of stones is found during reexamination, the intervention plan needs to be adjusted in a timely manner.
2. Drug treatment
When combined with orchitis, antibiotics such as levofloxacin tablets and cefixime dispersible tablets can be used as directed by the doctor to control the infection. Those with severe pain can take ibuprofen sustained-release capsules for a short period of time. Patients with varicocele can cooperate with Maizhiling Tablets to improve venous return. It is forbidden to adjust the dosage by yourself during the medication. If you have any skin rash or gastrointestinal discomfort, you must stop taking the medication and seek medical advice immediately.
3. Surgical treatment
For those whose stones exceed 3 mm in diameter or cause severe symptoms, testicular lithotomy may be considered. When combined with varicocele of grade III or above, laparoscopic high ligation of the spermatic vein is recommended. You will need to rest in bed for 3-5 days after surgery, and straddle sports are prohibited for 1 month. Testosterone levels and sperm quality will be tested regularly.
4. Traditional Chinese Medicine Conditioning
For damp-heat syndrome, modified Bazheng Powder can be used to relieve dampness and relieve stranguria. For patients with qi stagnation and blood stasis, Shaofu Zhuyu Decoction combined with local moxibustion can be used. The treatment period of traditional Chinese medicine is usually 2-3 months. During the treatment period, spicy and irritating foods should be avoided. It is recommended to seek syndrome differentiation and treatment in regular traditional Chinese medicine hospitals and avoid using folk remedies containing heavy metals.
5. Lifestyle intervention
Drink more than 2000 ml of water every day to promote metabolism, and avoid riding a bicycle or sitting for a long time. The diet should increase the intake of antioxidant foods such as broccoli and tomatoes, and limit high-purine foods such as animal offal. The scrotum can be bathed in warm water for 15 minutes every day, and the water temperature should be controlled below 40°C.
Patients with testicular microlithiasis should stop smoking, limit alcohol consumption, and avoid exposure to ionizing radiation. Adolescent patients need to check their sexual development every six months, and men of childbearing age are recommended to undergo routine semen testing. If there is a sudden increase in pain or fever in the testicles, it may lead to testicular torsion or infection, and emergency treatment is required immediately. Maintaining moderate exercise every day, such as swimming, jogging, etc., can help improve pelvic blood circulation.
