The core of the current mainstream child safety and first aid training is to break down "risk prevention" and "emergency response" into practical content for different scenarios. They are all practical information that can be used in childcare, early childhood education, and child care scenarios. Basically, they will not talk about empty theories that are too far away from reality.
Take the training we went into the community last month to provide for mothers and grandmothers. We did not start with the PPT. We first led everyone to simulate the daily scenes of cooking and taking the children downstairs to play - for example, do not put a hanging tablecloth on the dining table. The hot soup and rice can easily be brought down and burned by the children.; When walking in the community, don't let your children go out of sight to pick up pebbles from the manhole cover. Last year, a child in our area stepped on a loose manhole cover and fell in. Fortunately, there was no water and he only scratched his skin. This part will also cover prevention of loss, prevention of drowning, prevention of school bullying, and prevention of sexual assault. Oh, yes, there is no consensus in the industry on the standards of anti-trafficking drills. Some organizations believe that it must be realistic enough to make the baby remember it, and will arrange for strangers to suddenly come up and grab the child. Don’t we? I agree with this approach very much. I have received feedback from several parents before. After participating in such extreme drills, their children even avoided greeting neighbors in the community, which left a psychological shadow. When we do it, we will prepare the ground with the parents and children in advance and use role-playing to slowly guide them.
Just being able to avoid risks is of course not enough. Practical skills in real emergencies are the core part of the training. We bring simulators of different ages for every training, and then let everyone practice one by one. For example, if a baby under 1 year old has something stuck, Heimlich will lie on the arm and pat the back, while the older children will stand behind and hold a fist on the upper abdomen. Last year, a teacher in a private kindergarten just finished a week of training, and encountered a child eating jelly and getting stuck in the throat. He was photographed in half a minute. If he had waited for 120 to arrive, it might have been too late. There is also the often-heard saying about burns and scalds that “rinse off the blisters and give them away”. Many people used to believe in applying toothpaste, soy sauce, and aloe vera gel to the wound. We will show you a simulated superficial second-degree burn wound. Applying these things randomly will not only aggravate the pain, but also increase the difficulty of debridement and delay recovery. The content of cardiopulmonary resuscitation also specifically emphasizes the difference between children and adults. Children's airways are soft, so the angle of raising the head should not be too high before doing it. Lifting the head too hard will block the airway. The depth of compression should also be controlled to about one-third of the chest. Too much force will break the ribs.
We have been doing this kind of training for almost 6 years, and we will not produce the same content. When training for parents, we focus on high-frequency scenarios of being at home and traveling with children. When training for childcare and early childhood education practitioners, we focus on stamping in group activities and how to deal with febrile convulsions in young children. When training for school-age children, we change the content into game-breaking games. In a word, only if you can use and remember it, it is really useful.
