Global Handwashing Day: 8 major occasions to wash your hands promptly
Six-step hand washing method
The World Health Organization recommends a standard hand washing method, also called the six-step scrubbing method. The steps are as follows:
The first step is to put your fingers together and rub your palms together;
The second step is to interlace your fingers and rub the back of your palms;
The third step is to interlace your fingers and rub your palms together;
Step 4: Hold each other’s hands and rub them against each other;
Step 5: Rotate your thumb in your palm;
Step 6: Rub your fingertips into your palms. This method specially scrubs some parts that are easily overlooked in general hand washing methods (fingertips, finger joints, thumbs and other important parts) to ensure the effectiveness of hand washing.
The six-step hand washing method can be simplified into a short formula: "First rub the palms, secondly rub the backs of the hands, thirdly rub the fingertips, fourthly twist the backs of the fingers, fifthly make a big bend, and sixthly rub the fingertips." But please note: wash your hands under running water for at least 30 seconds, and use hand sanitizer.
