Cervicitis may cause low back pain, but not all patients experience this symptom. Cervicitis is usually caused by pathogenic infection, mechanical injury and other factors, and low back pain may be related to the spread of inflammation or complications from pelvic inflammatory disease.
Low back pain in patients with cervicitis is often related to inflammation involving surrounding tissues. When cervical inflammation is not controlled in time, it may spread upward to the uterus, fallopian tubes and pelvic peritoneum, stimulating local nerves or triggering pelvic congestion, resulting in persistent dull pain in the lower back. This type of low back pain often worsens after exertion or sexual intercourse, and may be accompanied by increased leucorrhea, abnormal color or odor. Clinical examination shows cervical congestion and edema, and obvious cervical tenderness during palpation. Pelvic ultrasound may show thickening or fluid accumulation in the adnexal area.
Low back pain in some patients with cervicitis may be related to concurrent diseases. If combined with pelvic inflammatory disease, inflammatory factors may stimulate the lumbosacral plexus and cause radiating pain. ; Patients with retroverted uterus are more likely to have lumbar muscle traction pain caused by changes in cervical position. This kind of situation needs to be identified through gynecological bimanual examination and vaginal secretion culture. The pain is mostly related to posture and does not relieve after rest. Long-term low back pain in patients with chronic cervicitis needs to exclude non-gynecological factors such as lumbar spinal lesions or urinary system diseases.
Patients with cervicitis who experience persistent low back pain should seek medical treatment promptly, and the cause should be clarified through gynecological examination, secretion detection and imaging examination. Treatment requires antibiotics such as azithromycin tablets and doxycycline capsules according to the pathogen, combined with topical medications such as Baofukang suppository. In daily life, you should avoid sitting for long periods of time and overexertion, pay attention to perineal cleaning, and prohibit sexual intercourse during treatment. Patients with pelvic inflammatory disease may need intravenous medication, and physical therapy or surgical intervention may be considered for intractable pain.
