Ayurveda is an Indian traditional life science that has been passed down for more than 5,000 years. The core of all therapies revolves around the balance of the three types of life energy: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. It can be roughly classified into three directions: daily physical and mental care, herbal intervention, and external physical therapy. The essence is to adjust the interaction between the body and the environment to return unbalanced energy to normal. To put it bluntly, it is like clearing the background of a stuck mobile phone, adjusting parameters, and returning the system to a smooth running state.
I previously worked as an apprentice in a traditional healing home in Kerala, India, for half a year. In the cases I saw, most ordinary people were exposed to light daily care methods that could be done at home without going to an institution. For example, in the past two years, I had a client who worked as an Internet operator. She stayed up late all the time and relied on iced coffee to stay energized when working on projects. She had been constipated for almost half a year and developed allergic rhinitis during the change of seasons. The test showed a typical Vata energy imbalance. I asked her to drink a cup of it on an empty stomach every morning with a little dryness. Hot milk with ginger powder, and 15 minutes before taking a bath to do a simple Abhyanga (hot oil massage) with warm sesame herbal oil from head to toe, focusing on rubbing the lower back and soles of the feet. On the 4th day, she sent a message saying that her bowel movements were smoother. Half a month later, the frequency of rhinitis attacks also dropped a lot.
If you have a lot of accumulated toxins in your body, such as those who have been eating heavy oil and salt all year round, have a slow metabolism, and have a high body weight, you can also try Pachikama (five-step detoxification method). This is also the most famous in-depth healing program in Ayurveda, but it requires a lot of physical fitness and operation. Before treatment, you need to drink ghee for 1-2 weeks to open up the body channels, and then induce vomiting, catharsis, nasal drip, and bloodletting according to your physical condition ( These steps are rarely used now) and enema. I met a girl before who heard that Pachikama can help lose weight quickly. She found a small institution to do it without doing a physical evaluation. After three days of doing it, she was so weak that she couldn't stand. Instead, she hurt her spleen and stomach. This is what our industry has been calling for. Pachikama is definitely not an Internet celebrity consumption item, and it must be evaluated by a professional Ayurvedic doctor.
Of course, there are a lot of controversies about Ayurveda now. On the one hand, some substandard herbal preparations contain excessive heavy metals. In the past few years, the US FDA recalled a batch of non-compliant Ayurveda oral products. On the other hand, its three-energy theory does not yet have enough support from modern evidence-based medicine. Many effects are based on individual reactions based on experience. Feedback, when we do our own treatment, we will repeatedly emphasize to our clients that Ayurveda is only an auxiliary adjustment of lifestyle and can never replace modern medical treatment. If you really have organic disease or serious disease, you should go to a doctor in a regular hospital as soon as possible. You must not blindly believe in the gimmicks of "Ayurveda cures cancer" or "herbal pills cure diabetes".
In fact, most Ayurvedic therapies are not that mysterious. Many of them are small habits that are integrated into daily life. For example, if you have a pitta constitution such as getting angry, acne, or having a short temper, you can usually drink more warm aloe vera juice and avoid spicy things.; If you have a Kapha constitution with heavy phlegm, edema, and laziness, you can drink a cup of warm honey water with turmeric and black pepper in the morning. Do not be greedy for cold drinks and drink ice drinks. These small methods have been passed down for thousands of years, and many people have tried them and found them useful. Essentially, they just help you find a life rhythm that suits your constitution.
