The core of Ayurvedic therapy revolves around the balance of the three major constitutions (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha), ranging from daily operable diet and rest care, to professional physical therapy and deep detoxification operated in the museum, to meditation and breathing exercises for emotional relief. Currently, the most popular types of Ayurveda are oil drop therapy, herbal external application, Panchakarma detoxification system, and supporting herbal prescriptions.
I spent a month in a traditional Ayurvedic center in Kerala two years ago, and I saw too many people come up and ask for the most expensive body oil drops, but in fact they were not suitable at all. The girl who lived in the same room at that time suffered from persistent migraines and was diagnosed with hyperpitta constitution. The doctor did not prescribe her a full-body program at all. Instead, she dripped cooling medicated oil on her forehead for 20 minutes in the morning and evening every day, along with Brahmi herbal tea, and even banned coffee and spicy food. After about a week of doing this, the frequency of her headaches dropped from once every two or three days to once a week, and her irritability was reduced a lot. There was also a young man who came to treat chronic eczema. His Kapha constitution was heavy on the damp side, and the doctor didn't even give him any oil. He applied herbal paste mixed with turmeric and neem all over his body every day, and then steamed it for 20 minutes to take a medicated bath. The herbs he drank were all clear and moist. Even the rice was replaced with whole grains. Most of the rash disappeared in about 10 days.
Many people think that Ayurveda only has high-end spa programs that cost thousands of dollars. In fact, this is not the case at all. Many small daily operations also fall into the category of formal therapies. For example, gargling with warm salt water and scraping tongue coating in the morning can adjust oral flora and reduce Kapha accumulation. ; Applying a small amount of warm sesame oil after bathing in winter can relieve dry skin and tight joints caused by overactive vata. These operations, which cost only a few cents, are more suitable for daily maintenance than many major projects. I have been scraping my tongue for almost three years, and I have basically never had the problem of sore throat in the morning.
There is actually a lot of controversy about Ayurveda in the market now. Supporters believe that it regulates the body from a holistic perspective, rather than treating headaches. For example, many people with long-term constipation adjust their diet and add a small amount of myrobalan powder, which is much more stable than taking laxatives for a long time.; The opposing view is that it lacks the support of evidence-based medicine in large samples, many of the effects come from the placebo effect, and some unrefined herbal medicines have the risk of liver toxicity. Every year, there are cases of liver damage caused by indiscriminate use of Ayurvedic medicines.
I have been in this business for so long, and I have seen many Internet celebrity institutions turn Ayurveda into ordinary relaxing spas, and just randomly join the program without even doing the most basic body constitution identification. I once had a customer who has a Vata constitution that is particularly prone to diarrhea. He heard that Panchakarma was good at detoxifying, so he went to a random spa for intestinal cleansing. As a result, he was dehydrated for three days and ended up in the hospital. The gain outweighed the gain.
In fact, in the final analysis, Ayurveda prefers a lifestyle that matches the rhythm of nature. There is no need to deify it, and there is no need to kill it with one stroke. If you really want to try it, just find a regular doctor to identify your body constitution first, and then choose the corresponding method.
