Qumai

　　Dianthus chinensis is the dry above-ground part of Dianthus superbus L. and D. chinensis L. of the Caryophyllaceae family. It is distributed in most parts of the country, mainly produced in Hebei, Henan, Liaoning, Jiangsu and other places. Harvest during the flowering and fruiting stages in summer and autumn, remove impurities, dry in the sun, and cut into sections for raw use.

　　[Efficacy] Diuretic and relieve stranguria, break blood and stimulate menstruation.

　　【application】

　　1. Drenching syndrome. This product is bitter and cold, can clear away the fire in the small intestine, conduct heat downwards, diuretic and relieve stranguria. It is a commonly used medicine for treating stranguria. Especially hot shower is the most suitable. Often used together with Akebia, Akebia, and Plantago Semen, such as Bazheng Powder ("Heji Bureau Prescription"); to treat stranguria and blood in urine, it can be used equally with gardenia and licorice, such as Lixiao Powder ("Heji Bureau Prescription"); to treat stranguria, it is compatible with Shiwei, talc, and mallow seeds, such as Shiwei San ("Zhengzhi Huibun");

　　2. Amenorrhea, irregular menstruation. This product can break blood and stimulate menstruation. It is especially suitable for amenorrhea or irregular menstruation due to blood heat and blood stasis. It is often used with peach kernel, safflower, salvia, and red peony root.

　　1. Chemical composition: Qumai contains anthocyanins, methyl salicylate, eugenol, vitamin A-like substances, saponins, and sugars.

　　2. Pharmacological effects: Qumai decoction has a diuretic effect, and its spike effect is stronger than that of the stem. It also stimulates the intestines, inhibits the heart, lowers blood pressure, and affects renal blood volume. It has inhibitory effects on both bacilli and staphylococci.

　　3. Clinical research: It is reported that Qumai, Trichosanthes chinensis, Chinese yam, aconite, and Poria cocos can be used to treat diabetes. It has good effect (Henan Traditional Chinese Medicine, 1994, 5: 373).
