Testicular inflammation can be treated through general treatment, medication, surgery, etc. Testicular inflammation is usually caused by bacterial infection, viral infection, trauma, immune factors, radiation damage and other reasons.
1. General treatment
Patients with testicular inflammation should pay attention to rest and avoid strenuous exercise. The scrotum on the affected side can be wrapped in a towel and elevated appropriately to help reduce local swelling and pain. The diet should be based on light and easy-to-digest foods and avoid eating spicy and irritating foods. In the acute stage of inflammation, cold compresses can be applied to the scrotum to help relieve pain and swelling.
2. Antibiotic treatment
Bacterial orchitis can be treated with antibiotics. Commonly used drugs include levofloxacin tablets, cefixime capsules, azithromycin dispersible tablets, etc. Levofloxacin tablets are suitable for infections caused by Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae. Cefixime capsules are effective against gram-positive bacteria such as streptococci and staphylococci. When using antibiotics, you need to be aware of possible adverse reactions such as gastrointestinal discomfort.
3. Antiviral treatment
Viral orchitis is mostly caused by the mumps virus and is mainly treated symptomatically. In severe cases, antiviral drugs such as ribavirin granules and acyclovir tablets can be used for treatment. The patient needs to rest in bed, and acetaminophen tablets can be used to treat high fever.
4. Anti-inflammatory and analgesic treatment
Painful symptoms caused by testicular inflammation can be relieved with anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs, such as ibuprofen sustained-release capsules, diclofenac sodium sustained-release tablets, etc. These drugs act as antipyretics and analgesics by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis. Symptoms such as gastrointestinal irritation may occur during medication. Taking it after meals can help relieve discomfort.
5. Surgical treatment
For patients with testicular abscess, incision and drainage of the testicular abscess may be required. In rare cases of severe testicular necrosis, orchiectomy may be required. Surgical treatment requires strict indications, and postoperative incision care needs to be paid attention to to prevent secondary infection.
Patients with orchitis should pay attention to keeping the scrotum clean and dry during treatment, wear loose and breathable underwear, and avoid local compression and friction. During the recovery period, you can take a warm sitz bath to promote blood circulation. You should ensure a balanced diet and drink plenty of water to promote urination. Avoid prolonged sitting and strenuous exercise to prevent recurrence of the condition. If symptoms such as fever or increased scrotal redness and swelling occur, you should seek medical treatment promptly to avoid complications such as infertility caused by delayed treatment.
