Reduced semen volume in men may be caused by excessive sexual intercourse, prostatitis, seminal vesiculitis, endocrine disorders, blockage of the vas deferens, etc.
1. Excessive sex life:
Multiple ejaculation in a short period of time can lead to insufficient seminal vesicle reserves, which is a physiological decrease in semen. Maintain a moderate frequency of sexual intercourse. Usually, semen volume can return to normal after 3-5 days of abstinence. Long-term and frequent masturbation may also cause similar situations.
2. Prostatitis:
Chronic prostatitis will affect the composition of semen, resulting in a decrease in semen volume. It may be related to bacterial infection, prolonged sitting, alcoholism and other factors, and is often accompanied by symptoms such as frequent urination and perineal swelling and pain. Prostatic fluid examination is required, and commonly used drugs include levofloxacin, tamsulosin, etc.
3. Seminal vesiculitis:
Impaired seminal vesicle secretion function will lead to a significant reduction in semen volume. It is mostly caused by retrograde infection and may be accompanied by symptoms such as hematospermia and painful ejaculation. Ultrasound examination can confirm the diagnosis, and treatment requires cephalosporin antibiotics combined with warm water sitz baths.
4. Endocrine disorders:
Low testosterone levels inhibit the secretory function of the seminal vesicles and prostate. It is common in people with pituitary gland disease and excessive weight loss, and may be accompanied by symptoms such as loss of sexual desire and sparse body hair. Six items of sex hormones need to be tested, and testosterone undecanoate should be supplemented if necessary.
5. Vas deferens blockage:
Congenital developmental abnormalities or acquired inflammatory adhesions may lead to obstruction of the vas deferens. Semen analysis shows a sharp decrease in sperm count, which requires seminal tract imaging for diagnosis. Some cases require vas deferens anastomosis.
It is recommended to maintain a regular schedule, avoid high temperature environments, and supplement trace elements such as zinc and selenium appropriately. You can eat oysters, nuts, deep-sea fish and other foods on a daily basis. Moderate squats and Kegel exercises can help improve pelvic blood circulation. If the semen volume continues to decrease along with fertility disorders, you should promptly go to the andrology department for professional examinations such as routine semen examination and reproductive system ultrasound to rule out organic diseases. Excessive long-term mental stress may also affect spermatogenesis. If necessary, seek psychological counseling.
