Three types of medicines should not be taken before bedtime

By:Owen Views:410

Taking calcium supplements before going to bed will not only induce gastrointestinal disease , and are also susceptible to urinary tract stones. This is because when taking calcium before going to bed, part of the calcium is absorbed by the small intestine, and the other part has to be excreted from the body through the urinary tract. When the peak of calcium excretion arrives, the person is already asleep, and the calcium in the urine will remain in the urinary tract. Over time, urinary tract stones will gradually form.

Diuretics such as hydrochlorothiazide and spironolactone will have a diuretic effect about 1 hour after taking them. To avoid affecting sleep, diuretics should not be taken before going to bed, but should be taken on an empty stomach in the early morning.

If antihypertensive drugs are taken before going to bed, the blood drug concentration will reach the peak after going to bed, the blood pressure will drop significantly, and important organs such as the heart, brain, and kidneys will suffer from insufficient blood supply.
