Zhang Boli, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and president of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, said in his speech that traditional Chinese medicine has a history of thousands of years and has made important contributions to the prosperity of the Chinese nation. Traditional medicine must be combined with modern technology to benefit mankind and make greater contributions. He said that this was Tu Youyou’s experience in winning the Nobel Prize, and it was also the most important purpose of their visit to communicate with Swedish doctors. He said, “Our trip is to seek friendship and cooperation to jointly benefit mankind. ”

　　Tu Youyou, who was originally scheduled to participate in this dialogue, could not come to the scene due to physical reasons, but this did not affect the enthusiasm of the Swedish medical community for traditional Chinese medicine at all.

　　Eva Marie Janeiro, president of the Swedish Acupuncture Association, who has been engaged in promoting traditional Chinese medicine in Sweden for more than 20 years, said in an interview with a reporter from People's Daily Online: "We have worked hard for many years to build a bridge between Chinese and Western medicine. There has always been a long distance between the two in Europe. After Tu Youyou won the Nobel Prize, we felt that this was the bridge we had been looking for. We believe that as a result, traditional Chinese medicine will receive more and more recognition in the West. Tu Youyou means that traditional Chinese medicine has gained recognition in Europe and North America. I really feel like this means the beginning of some great changes. ”

Tu Youyou made them more confident in their work. The Swedish TCM doctors participating in the meeting today come from all over Sweden. More than 200 people, including Chinese Ambassador to Sweden Chen Yuming, experts from the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, and experts from the Department of Life Sciences of the Swedish National Institute of Technology, attended the event.
