There are two main types of foreskin surgery: circumcision and foreskinplasty, which are suitable for patients with excessive foreskin, phimosis or recurrent infections.
Circumcision achieves the purpose of treatment by circumferentially removing excess foreskin and is the most classic clinical procedure. The surgery is completed under local anesthesia, and the incisions are neatly sutured, which can effectively eliminate the risk of foreskin incarceration. Foreskinplasty retains part of the foreskin tissue and only loosens the narrow ring. It is more suitable for young patients. This procedure has less bleeding and faster recovery. Both surgeries require local inflammation assessment before surgery. The incision needs to be kept dry for 2-3 days after surgery, and antibiotics such as cefaclor granules are used to prevent infection. The sutures will be removed 5-7 days after surgery, and strenuous exercise should be avoided for 1 month. Factors such as the patient's age, foreskin elasticity, and degree of disease need to be considered when selecting a surgical method. It is recommended to consult a urology department for professional evaluation.
Postoperative care requires wearing loose cotton underwear to reduce friction, gently cleaning the wound with warm water every day, and using erythromycin ointment and other topical medications as directed by your doctor. The diet should be light and nutritious, consume more milk and eggs to supplement protein to promote healing, and avoid spicy and irritating foods. If symptoms of persistent bleeding, severe pain or fever occur after surgery, you should return to the clinic in time and follow up regularly to observe the healing. During the recovery period, you are not allowed to peel off the blood scab or remove the dressing in advance.
