Bad Habit 1: Drink tap water as soon as it boils
It is a good habit for Chinese people to drink boiled water, but do you know? Do not drink water as soon as it is boiled. Because our tap water has been chlorinated and disinfected, chlorine combines with residual organic matter in the water to produce a variety of carcinogenic compounds such as halogenated hydrocarbons and chloroform.
Jiang Weibo, a professor at the School of Food Science and Nutritional Engineering at China Agricultural University, suggested that when boiling water, you might as well take three steps:
First, take out the tap water and let it sit for a while before boiling it; when the water is about to boil, open the lid of the kettle; finally, after the water boils, wait for 3 minutes before turning off the heat. This will reduce the chlorine content in the water to safe drinking standards, making it truly "boiling water".
Bad Habit 2: Never wash the water dispenser
Bottled water and water dispensers are very common in homes, offices, and public places. Have you ever thought that the water dispenser you use has never been "bathed" since it was placed there?
Water dispensers may seem like good-quality water, but in fact "secondary pollution" is very serious. Whenever you open the water dispenser faucet, you hear a "gurgling" sound and a string of bubbles comes out of the bucket. This means that air has entered, and dust and microorganisms will be brought in.
According to testing data from the national environmental health monitoring department, if the hot and cold water tanks in bottled water dispensers are not washed for three months, bacteria such as E. coli and Grape cocci etc. Therefore, it is best to clean once a month and once every two weeks in summer. The water dispenser in the office needs to be cleaned more frequently due to frequent use.
