What is the difference between Reiki and energy healing?

The core difference is actually that energy healing is the collective name for all healing techniques that focus on adjusting the life energy field, while Reiki is just a subdivision of the energy healing system with a clear origin and fixed operating paradigm. To put it simply, energy healing is a broad category, and Reiki is a very well-known specific category under this category.

Many friends who are new to the field of mind, body and soul tend to confuse the two. Even many therapists who are new to the industry will use the two words interchangeably. In fact, the difference is quite big in actual practice. For example, if you go to experience a project at the Mind and Body Market on the weekend, the healer you meet will use sound bowls to knock along the positions of your chakras, use crystals to sweep out the jams in your aura, and even perform remote energy cleansing for you thousands of kilometers away. These all belong to the category of energy healing, but they do not necessarily use Reiki techniques. Then Reiki is like the classic pearl milk tea of ​​an old chain. The formula, operating procedures, and raw material requirements are all standardized. No messy ingredients will be added casually. The main thing is stability and purity.

Of course, not everyone agrees with this classification. Many old-school Reiki masters who have been working for more than ten years feel that Reiki cannot be regarded as ordinary energy healing at all. The core reason is that the use of traditional Reiki requires "initiation" to open exclusive energy channels. It cannot be used by just learning a few techniques. It is fundamentally different from other energy healing techniques that can be learned by oneself.； However, practitioners of the new school feel that as long as the core is to use Reiki energy, adjustments made with tools such as crystals and flower essences also belong to the category of Reiki, and there is no need to be so divided.
